product description
FINA'S Port Arthur Refinery, located in Port Arthur, Texas, processes 150,000 barrels of crude oil per day into motor fuels, asphalt, and other products The refinery, originally built by Atlantic Refining Company, opened in 1936 with one processing unit, a Visbreaker, which was a predecessor to modern day gasoline production units. In 1968, Atlantic and Richfield Oil Corporation merged to form Atlantic Richfield Company (ARCO) and less than a year later the Port Arthur Refinery was sold to British Petroleum Corporation. BP owned and operated the refinery for four years, then sold the plant to FINA in 1973. As a result of modernizations in 1982, 1988 and the most recent completion of the Fluid Catalytic Cracking Unit, the refinery became one of the most modern in today's industry. This is the first of two FINA refinery banks. This series stands apart from the red and blue FINA Oil and Chemical Vintage Vehicle collectable banks sure to increase in value, only 3500 have been made.
