First produced in the mid-1930's, the DC-3 immediately became a popular aircraft. According to pilots, "you can crack one up, but you can never wear one out!" Measuring 64 feet long, it had a wingspan of 95 feet and stood 17 feet high. It was said the DC-3 was so easy to handle it could almost fly itself.
